Accessibility statement

We want everyone to be able to use this website, including people who use screen readers, keyboards, voice control, magnification or other assistive technology. This statement explains what we have done, where the site falls short and how to tell us about a problem.

Our aim is to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA.

What we have done

The site was built with accessibility in mind from the start, and it includes these measures:

  • every page can be used with a keyboard alone, and keyboard focus is clearly visible;
  • a link at the top of each page lets you skip straight to the main content;
  • text and interface colours are chosen for sufficient contrast against their backgrounds;
  • headings follow a logical order, and pages use landmarks so that screen reader users can move around easily;
  • images that carry meaning have text alternatives, and decorative images are hidden from assistive technology;
  • text can be enlarged in the browser without losing content, and layouts adapt to small screens;
  • tables are marked up with header cells, and are designed to fit the screen without sideways scrolling;
  • form fields have visible labels;
  • animation and motion are kept modest, and the site respects the "reduce motion" setting on your device;
  • where we publish audio or video, we aim to provide captions or a transcript.

Known gaps

We know of some parts of the site that we do not fully control and that may not meet the standard.

The quote form
The form is provided by a third-party customer relationship management provider and embedded in our pages. We have chosen it with care, but we cannot change its code, so some elements may be harder to use with certain assistive technology than the rest of the site. If you cannot use it, you can email us at info@brightviewskylightsexeter.co.uk or message us on WhatsApp, and we will take the details that way, giving you exactly the same service.
The map
The map on the contact and areas pages is interactive and relies on mouse or touch movement for some features. The information it shows, which is the area we cover, is given in text elsewhere on the page.

We check the rest of the site ourselves and will list any further gaps here as we find them.

How to tell us about a problem

If you find something on the site that you cannot use, or if you need information in another format such as large print, plain text or an audio description, email info@brightviewskylightsexeter.co.uk. Please tell us the page address, what you were trying to do, and the assistive technology or browser you use if you are happy to share it.

We aim to acknowledge your message within a few working days and to tell you what we can do.

Other ways to reach us

We are a service-area business without public premises, so you do not need to visit anywhere to get a quote. Everything, from your first enquiry to the survey booking, can be done by email, WhatsApp or the quote form. If you need us to arrange a home visit in a particular way, such as at a certain time of day or with particular access arrangements, tell us and we will plan around it.

If you are not happy with our reply

If you tell us about a problem and you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS), which advises on discrimination and equality rights. You can find its details at gov.uk.

For wider information on the rules about accessibility, see the government's guidance at gov.uk. We are a private business and not a public sector body, so those regulations do not apply to us directly, but we have chosen to work to the same standard.
